We’ve all been wowed by a 6-string guitar player, but what about a 60-string guitar player? Jeff Freling used to play the electric zither, a 60-string monster of a guitar used in his past career with The Blue Man group. In 2010, he quit his job with The Blue Man Group to become the Victor of Victor and Penny, Kansas City’s antique pop duo. He’s scaled back to a 6-string guitar and his partner Erin McGrane plays ukulele.
Jeff spent 205 days on the road in 2013, and he says his motivation to keep on trucking came from the joy of playing music, and his partnership with Erin, also known as Penny. Victor and Penny has evolved from playing ‘20s and ‘30s covers to creating their own original music with a historic jazz sound. They just released their first album of almost all-original music on March 4, 2016. It’s called Electricity.
